Running a business on your own is a lot of work - but you already know that! Here are a few of the apps and services that have made my life as a business owner so much easier and took some of my least favorite tasks off my plate entirely!
Fabrikator
- Type: Inventory management
- Cost: I pay $1,430/year, but cheaper plans are available
- Why I love it: This app changed my life!!!! It takes info directly from Shopify to calculate when you need to reorder inventory to prevent out of stock times and how much you should be ordering to cover X number of days. It also allows you to track inventory orders to calculate lead times and when you can expect to receive the delivery. It’s so nice to take the brain work out of inventory management and just listen to this little expert inside my computer. It also gives you all sorts of stats on what products are doing well, which you should try to move a bit more, etc etc etc
Bundler
- Type: Product bundles
- Cost: $6.99 every 30 days, free plan available
- Why I love it: My chosen app for bundles! You can create all different types of bundles - buy x get y, volume discounts, tiered bundles, and even bundles that show up as standalone listings.
Route
- Type: Shipping insurance
- Cost: Free plans available
- Why I love it: The most glorious shipping insurance app! It asks your customers to pay a very small amount at checkout to insure their order, and then they handle everything should the order get lost or damaged in transit. No playing phone tag with USPS or dealing with attitude from customers. It’s truly a dream.
Taxjar
- Type: Sales tax management
- Cost: $499/month for 2.5k transactions, but less expensive plans are available!
- Why I love it: I haven’t had to think about sales tax in months because of Taxjar! It integrates with Shopify to automatically calculate and file all of my sales taxes for me. You can even have them register you in new states as liabilities arise. So user friendly and easy to navigate. They are truly responsible for my sanity.
Gusto:
- Type: Payroll Processing
- Cost: As low as $24.50/month
- Why I love it: It was so much easier than I ever imagined going from one employee (myself) to five because of Gusto! They can set up your employment account in different states and seamlessly integrate with all sorts of benefits. I use their end-to-end services so they keep me compliant with different state regulations and I don’t have to worry.
